Dermatology
Dermatologists are physician specialists trained in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders, tumors, and cosmetic concerns of the skin. A dermatologist is an expert in both the medical treatment of rashes and the surgical treatment of benign and malignant growths of the skin.

- Michael M. Nelson, MD
received his bachelor degree in Biology from the University of Minnesota at Morris and his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine internship at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA, and his dermatology residency at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Nelson is board certified in dermatology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He engages in the full breadth of dermatologic practice, with a special interest in skin cancer. Dr. Nelson is a native of the Alexandria area and enjoys kayaking, mountain biking, and traveling with his wife, Janell.
