Endocrinology, Nutrition and Diabetes Team
Endocrinologists offer a comprehensive approach to the treatment of diseases affecting the endocrine system such as diabetes, thyroid abnormalities, hormonal imbalances, and metabolic and nutritional disorders.
Our Diabetes Care Team offers the services of two board-certified Endocrinologists, a licensed registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator, and a diabetes instructor; all of whom are specially trained to treat diabetes and teach patients how diet modifications and lifestyle changes can keep them in control of their lives.

- Maria Lydia B. Patacsil, MD
received her medical degree from the University of the Philippines Manila College of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine and is board certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Patacsil has special interest in the care of patients with thyroid disease and diabetes. She is married to Dr Ferdinand Makalinao, and enjoys travel, crossword puzzles, and watching movies with her husband.

- Julie J. Miller, LRD, CDE
received her bachelor of Science degree in Food and Nutrition from North Dakota State University. As a dietitian and certified diabetes educator, she provides medical nutrition therapy to people of all ages, educating them in disease management and prevention. She and her husband have four daughters. She enjoys family time, church involvement, running and other outdoor activities, as well as scrapbooking.

- Beverly J. Paul, RN, BSN, WON
received her bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Moorhead State University, Moorhead, MN. She assists the physicians with patient diabetic teaching and has also been certified in wound and ostomy care. Her hobbies focus around her family, flowers, gardening, hiking and church activities.
