Family Practice

Family Practice physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners are primary care providers. They are medical specialists who provide comprehensive primary health care to people of all ages, from birth to advanced years. They are able to diagnose and treat the vast majority of common illnesses and injuries, as well as provide preventive care. Family Practice providers place special emphasis on the care of families and refer patients to specialists and other community resources when necessary.

Bruce Evink
Bruce A. Evink, MD

received his bachelor degree from Dordt College in Iowa, and received his master degree in Physical Therapy from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota, and completed his residency at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN. Dr. Evink enjoys caring for both children and adults with special interests in sports medicine, obstetrical care and preventive medicine. He and his wife, Donna, have 2 children. Leisure activities include volleyball, basketball, camping, church activities and family time.

Kristi Gagne
Kristi A. Gagne, MD

received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of North Dakota. She completed her residency at the UND Family Practice Residency in Fargo. Dr. Gagne enjoys patients of all ages, with special interests in women's health, obstetrics, and pediatrics. She is married, and in her free time enjoys golf, playing piano, and spending time on the lake and with her three children.

Douglas Griffin
Douglas M. Griffin, MD

completed his undergraduate training at St. Olaf College and received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota. He completed a family practice residency at the Sioux Falls Family Practice Residency in Sioux Falls, SD. Dr. Griffin and his wife, Mary, have 5 children. His leisure activities include running, family time, church activities, and singing. Dr. Griffin provides care for the entire family.

Scott Hegstad
Scott T. Hegstad, MD

received his bachelor degree in chemistry at the University of Minnesota - Morris, and his medical degree at the University of Minnesota. He completed his residency at North Memorial Medical Center in Minneapolis. His interests are basketball, volleyball, computers, and chasing his 2 children, Graham and Camille. His medical interests include pediatrics and sports medicine.

Randy J. Peterson, MD

graduated with a bachelor degree in Biology from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. He received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota. He completed his internship and residency at Sioux Falls Family Practice Residency in Sioux Falls, SD. In 2002, Dr. Peterson was named Minnesota’s “Family Physician of the Year” by the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians. He enjoys family time, outdoor activities, golfing and school functions.

Scott Sunby
Scott A. Sundby, MD

received his undergraduate degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN and his medical degree from the University of Minnesota. He loves spending time in the outdoors canoeing, biking, golfing and cross-country skiing with his wife, Jen, and daughter, Meredith.

Mark Helgeson
Mark A. Helgeson, PA-C

received his associate degree from the Medical Institute of Minnesota in laboratory studies, and completed his physician assistant training at St. Cloud State University receiving an Associate in Science degree. He is nationally certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, and, in addition, holds a specialty degree from NCCPA in primary care. He has 29 years of practice experience and enjoys taking care of all age groups. He is married and has three children. He is a musician, motorcyclist, and enjoys reading.

Jodi Nicholson
Jodi M. Nicholson, PA-C

is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Duluth with a BS in Biology and a BA in Psychology. She then received her Masters of Medical Science Degree from the Physician Assistant Program at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Her special interests in medicine include geriatrics, family planning, health education and preventive medicine. She is married with one child, and enjoys spending time with family, playing and watching sports, and crafts.

Jessica Paulsen
Jessica R. Paulsen, PA-C

earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in biology, chemistry, and psychology from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. She obtained her Master of Science degree through the University of Wisconsin La Crosse - Gundersen Lutheran - Mayo Physician Assistant Program. Her medical interests include women's health, cardiovascular risk reduction, and patient education. She is married to an Alexandria native and enjoys philanthropy, playing the piano, fishing, and Minnesota Twins baseball.

Erika Rodriguez
Erika L. Rodriguez, PA-C

received her bachelor degree in Biology at Augsburg College and went on to complete her Physician Assistant training at Des Moines University. Erika enjoys caring for the entire family and has a special interest in dermatology. Erika is married and enjoys spending time with her husband. They enjoy sporting activities, being involved in their local church, and spending time with friends and family.

Robert Montgomery
Roberta J. Montgomery, CNP

earned her bachelor degree in nursing from North Dakota State University and master degree in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of North Dakota. She enjoys providing healthcare to people of all ages and has special interests in preventive medicine and health promotion. Her favorite leisure activity is spending time with her husband, Jeff, and their two young children, Parker and Kennedy.

Christine Olson
Christine M. Olson, CNP

received her bachelor degree in nursing at the University of North Dakota and her master degree from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. She is married and in her spare time enjoys fishing, gardening, and reading. She enjoys caring for people of all ages with special interest in sports medicine, health promotion, and women’s health.
