OB/GYN & Midwifery Care
Obstetrics and Gynecology physicians specialize in women’s reproductive organs. They care for women during pregnancy, delivery and post-childbirth. They also treat disorders of the female genital tract, endocrine and reproductive systems. Along with OB/GYNs, Certified Nurse Midwives provide care throughout healthy pregnancies and childbirths, general gynecological care, family planning and education regarding women’s health issues.

received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota, Duluth. She received her medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School, Minneapolis. She then completed her residency training at the University of Colorado, Denver.
Dr. Severson is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Her medical interests include abnormal bleeding, atypical pap smear management, ultrasound and high risk pregnancy. Shawn grew up in southeastern Minnesota and she and her husband, Andy, have two young boys, Aidan and Soren. She enjoys spending time with her family, riding her motorcycle and doing anything outdoors.
- Jeanne M. Howell, MS, CNM
received her BS degree in nursing from the college of St. Teresa in Winona, MN. She received her MS degree in nursing and midwifery from the University of Minnesota. She is on the adjunct faculty at the U of M and was listed in the 2000 Who’s Who in American Nursing. She is married and has 4 grown children. She enjoys reading, quilting, running and family time.
