Podiatry
Podiatrists are medical specialists trained in the diagnosis and treatment of foot disorders. The human foot is a mechanical marvel consisting of not only skin and bones, but numerous muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves and blood vessels. These can become painful due to injury, infection, congenital deformities and the wear and tear of everyday life. Treatments available for care of foot problems include medications, physical therapy, shoe inserts and modifications as well as surgery.
